Mr. Atkins focuses his practice on representing employers and employees in a wide variety of employment-related matters. In representing employers, Mr. Atkins counsels and advises clients on compliance and best employment practices, including steps they can take to minimize liability and avoid litigation. His practice also includes representing employers in various employment-related disputes where a resolution is not possible. In representing employees, Mr. Atkins counsels and advises current and former employees on matters relating to discrimination and harassment, wrongful termination, and wage and hour violations, as well as on entrances and exits from employment relationships.

Interests

In his free time, Mr. Atkins enjoys being active in the Southern California outdoors. He likes to hike (often with his dog), play beach volleyball, and train for and compete in triathlons. He enjoys tapping into his nerdy side by doing crossword puzzles and other word games.

Mr. Atkins began his legal career at the New York office of Baker McKenzie LLP, where he was an associate in the firm’s dispute resolution practice group. He gained valuable experience litigating an array of complex commercial matters in both federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration and mediation. Immediately prior to joining BOL, Mr. Atkins served as deputy director of a national organization of university faculty members that seeks to combat antisemitism and related forms of discrimination on campus while promoting freedom of expression in the academy.
