Alma Piñan represents and advises California employers and employees in a wide range of employment-related issues. She has an intimate understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the employment relationship and has counseled clients regarding matters involving the Fair Employment and Housing Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the California Labor Code, Industrial Welfare Commission Wage Orders, and the Private Attorneys General Act. She also has prosecuted and defended single-plaintiff claims, including matters involving harassment, retaliation, discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage and hour violations. 

Alma’s primary aim is to help clients achieve their goals and resolve disputes without the need for costly and time-consuming litigation.  She does so by helping businesses understand and navigate the ever-changing employments laws in California, drafting compliant and comprehensive employment agreements and policies, and supporting businesses through employment-related issues that arise throughout the employment relationship.  Additionally, she assists employees at the beginning and/or the conclusion of their employment relationship to ensure employment agreements provided by their employer are fair and that her employee clients secure the most favorable terms regarding compensation, benefits, equity and ownership, bonuses and incentives, and leave.    

Alma also thrives in the courtroom. She has substantial experience assisting clients with all aspects of employment litigation in both single-plaintiff and wage and hour class actions and representative actions in state and federal courts throughout California. Alma has taken and defended numerous depositions and has participated in jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations hearings. 

Alma prides herself on her ability to connect with people and her good judgment. She provides her clients with the highest level of service and ensures they feel supported every step of the way. 

Alma began her legal career with Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, where she represented employers on a variety of employment and complex civil litigation matters in state and federal court. Alma was also a judicial extern for the Honorable Sandra R. Klein in the Central District of California. 

In her free time, Alma enjoys traveling, going to Disneyland with her daughter and husband, and watching true crime documentaries.
