Lance M. Williams

ATTORNEY AT LAW

PROFILE

Lance M. Williams is a partner in BOL’s Employment Group who represents both employers and employees in all types of litigation and transactional matters.

Lance litigates high stakes employment lawsuits throughout California from inception through trial or arbitration. He prosecutes and defends against all types of employment-related claims, including for harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, trade secret misappropriation, and wage and hour violations. Because Lance routinely analyzes issues from “both sides” of employment disputes, he brings a unique perspective which allows him to anticipate the other side’s arguments and to achieve results for his clients. Every year since 2019, Lance has been selected by Super Lawyers Magazine as a “Rising Star” in employment litigation, a distinction awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys in Southern California.

Outside of the courtroom, Lance is passionate about helping his clients solve complex employment problems efficiently and effectively. He specializes in representing sophisticated employees such as executives, entrepreneurs, and other high achievers in negotiating better compensation, equity, and severance packages with their employers. Lance also advocates for individuals who have experienced injustice in the workplace. His clients include CEOs and CFOs of publicly traded companies as well as rising business leaders in the entertainment, finance, and technology industries.

On behalf of employers, Lance counsels a wide range of small and mid-size businesses about how to comply with California’s labyrinth of employment laws and guides them through especially difficult employee terminations, accommodation requests, and negotiations. He provides employers with proactive, practical steps to stay out of trouble in the most employee-friendly and litigious state in the nation, including by implementing well-drafted employment documents as well as combining negotiation tactics with a human touch to help his clients resolve emotionally charged disputes long before they become lawsuits. Lance’s employer clients include hedge funds, startups, celebrity management companies, law firms, and veterinary hospitals.

In his free time, Lance enjoys traveling the world with his wife, playing with his golden retrievers, and winning fantasy football/baseball championships.
