Lance M. Williams
As a Partner in the firm’s Employment Practice, Mr. Williams represents both employers and employees in a wide variety of employment-related issues and disputes. On behalf of employees, Mr. Williams specializes in negotiating entrances and exits from employment relationships, including counseling executives, salespeople, and other professionals regarding their employment and severance agreements. When individuals experience injustice in the workplace such as unlawful harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or misclassification, Mr. Williams tells their stories persuasively to facilitate better employment terms or severance packages. If an amicable resolution is not possible, Mr. Williams is an experienced trial attorney and does not hesitate to litigate or arbitrate claims to vindicate his clients’ rights.
Mr. Williams also provides advice and counsel to small and midsize employers on proactive, practical steps they can take to minimize liability and avoid costly and time-consuming litigation. To this end, Mr. Williams drafts company policies, employee handbooks, and employment agreements as part of a comprehensive strategy to comply with California’s stringent and ever-changing employment laws. Because Mr. Williams repeatedly analyzes issues from both sides of the employment relationship, he brings a unique perspective and skillset that allow him to advocate persuasively on behalf of his clients and to anticipate and respond to the arguments of his adversaries. Mr. Williams’ practice also includes representing employers in various employment-related claims from inception through trial or arbitration.
