Lance Williams is a Partner in BOL’s Employment Group who represents both employers and employees in all types of litigation and transactional matters.

Lance litigates high stakes employment lawsuits throughout California in state and federal courts as well as in arbitration and administrative hearings. He prosecutes and defends against all types of employment-related claims, including for harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, trade secret misappropriation, and wage and hour violations. Because Lance routinely analyzes issues from “both sides” of employment disputes, he brings a unique perspective that allows him to anticipate and persuasively respond to the arguments of his adversaries and to achieve results for his clients.

Outside of the courtroom, Lance specializes in helping his clients solve complex employment problems efficiently and effectively. He represents sophisticated employees such as executives, entrepreneurs, and other high-income earners in compensation, equity, and separation negotiations with their employers. His clients include CEOs and CFOs of publicly traded companies as well as rising business leaders in the entertainment, finance, and technology industries.

Lance also counsels a wide range of small and mid-size businesses about how to comply with California’s labyrinth of employment laws and he guides them through especially difficult employee disciplinary actions, requests for leave or other accommodations, and terminations of employment. His practice is particularly focused on advising employers about proactive, practical steps they can take to minimize liability and avoid costly and time-consuming litigation.

Lance has been selected by Super Lawyers Magazine as a “Rising Star” in employment litigation every year since 2019. In his free time, Lance enjoys traveling the world with his wife, playing with his Golden Retrievers Connor and Cooper, and winning fantasy football championships.
